Enjoying the Calm Between the Storm

What a day for MyModaLife to enjoy. A little time of relaxation as I continue with research work for my dissertation led to fun in the sun and indoors. MyModaLife made a visit to the cinema. I finally saw one of the many movies that have been courting my attention. In this case the movie was Belle.

Set in 18th century Britain the film portrays many issues around race and racial prejudice, love, family and justice. I could go on but then I’d just be spoiling it for you. If you haven’t seen the film it comes with high recommendations not just for the storyline – which is based on a true story – but for the acting and the fashion (I’ve suddenly want to go shopping for corsets and a long hooded cloak!).

Day Out - 6

Next stop was for something to eat, leading us to Bodeans, a barbecue restaurant in the heart of Soho. After a course of spare ribs, pulled pork, barbecue chicken, baby back ribs, fries and coleslaw (washed down with a thick and creamy chocolate milkshake) we somehow managed to venture around the Soho and Chinatown neighbourhood (attempting to burn off those calories).  And of course a little retail therapy led to a visit to Tottenham Court Road’s TK Maxx where some quaint and cute treats were found.

Finger Prints E.D'Ottavi

I was pleased to have visited the Central Saint Martins Graduate show, where my attention was pulled in all sorts of directions. Final year students from all disciplines were presenting their projects through video, textile or print design.

An array of jewellery, accessories and textiles designers were all on show, presenting unique pieces of work, that showed the one-of-a-kind learning environment that CSM has to offer.

One designer that really stuck our for me was jewellery design student, Eleonora D’Ottavi. Her work is based on creating extremely unique and personalised pieces, such as fingerprint rings pictured above. Created by scanning the owner’s unique fingerprint, making each piece undoubtedly one of a kind.

There’s also the option of turning the fingerprint scan into sets of cufflinks, so there will be something for both ladies and gents!

Though a designated website is on its way, in the meantime Eleonora can be contacted via email, which is included in the picture above.

Until next time keep on living and loving,

With project work now well underway, MyModaLife is getting into the thick of things with my research work. But I need you! Could you spend a few moments completing a questionnaire for my research project?

The questions relate to the subject of colour and how they are perceived. It would be so helpful if you could answer them at the following link. Thank you so much in advance!
